BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Heavy rainfall across Badung Regency and surrounding areas on Tuesday (Feb 24) caused flooding in several locations and triggered infrastructure damage, including a road collapse.

Rising water levels inundated residential areas and public facilities as rainfall intensity increased sharply since the morning.

In Banjar Sangging, Sibangkaja Village, Abiansemal District, a house was flooded after water overflowed into the yard and entered the building.

Similar conditions were reported on Jalan Pantai Jerman in Tuban, Kuta, where floodwaters reached approximately 1.2 meters. The high water level submerged parts of the area, affecting nearby properties.

Several tourists staying at a hotel in the area were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Authorities carried out the evacuation to reduce safety risks, as water continued to flow through the area.

Elsewhere, a religious shrine complex (pelinggih) in Bumi Kertha neighborhood, Kerobokan Kaja, was damaged after being eroded by the strong current of the Tukad Yeh Bolo River. At least two shrines and a boundary wall were swept away after the river overflowed and could not contain the rainwater discharge.

Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Badung Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), I Ketut Murdika, confirmed the incidents and said response teams were immediately deployed to the affected sites.

“We divided tasks. For the incident on Jalan Pantai Jerman, the team from the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) handled it,” he said briefly on Tuesday.

As of publication, authorities were still assessing the extent of the damage and ensuring that affected residents and visitors were in safe condition.
