BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Local authorities have temporarily halted the construction of a condotel project near Cemagi Beach in Mengwi District after identifying discrepancies between the building’s physical structure and its approved construction permit.
The issue drew public attention on social media and was followed up by the Badung Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and the Regional Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office (DPMPTSP), which conducted an on-site inspection on Thursday (Feb 19).
During the inspection, officials found significant inconsistencies between the issued Building Approval Permit (PBG) and the structure currently under construction.
Head of Regional Regulation Enforcement at Satpol PP Badung, Nyoman Kardana, confirmed that a team was deployed to examine the site and take enforcement action.
“The first violation concerns the building height. In the PBG, the maximum height is 14 meters, but in reality it measures 14.8 meters,” Kardana said with permission from the Head of Satpol PP Badung.
He added that the building also exceeded the permitted number of floors.
“According to the PBG, the project is approved for four floors, but on site we found five floors. That is what we identified during the inspection,” he explained.
As a non-judicial enforcement measure, Satpol PP installed an official Pol PP Line at the project location, effectively ordering a temporary stop to all construction activities. The measure is intended to ensure that no further work continues until the permitting issues are resolved by the owner or developer.
“We have stopped the project and installed the Pol PP Line,” Kardana stated.
He emphasized that the action reflects the Badung Regency Government’s commitment to enforcing regional regulations and ensuring that investment and development projects comply with applicable zoning and legal requirements.
Authorities have scheduled a summons for the building owner or the party responsible for the project to provide clarification at the Satpol PP Badung office.
“Tomorrow, the party responsible for the illegal aspects will come here for clarification,” he added.
Cemagi Beach and surrounding coastal areas in Mengwi have seen increasing development interest in recent years, making regulatory compliance a key concern for local authorities.
