BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – The Badung Regency Government has begun a sand maintenance and beach reorganization program at Kuta Beach following erosion caused by coastal abrasion. The work is being carried out under the leadership of Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa and started on January 13, 2026.

Acting Head of the Badung Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (Badung PUPR Office), Anak Agung Rama Putra, said the initial phase includes replenishing sand in eroded sections of the beach and repairing pedestrian walkways affected by shifting sand and wave activity.

“We are carrying out sand maintenance by stabilizing areas impacted by abrasion. This work has been underway since Tuesday, and at the same time we are tidying up the pedestrian walkways. Any remaining uneven areas will be further adjusted,” Rama Putra said.

The current work is focused on the stretch in front of Hard Rock Kuta toward the southern section of the beach, as well as the area in front of Beachwalk Shopping Center. The total length of the affected area undergoing maintenance is approximately 100 meters.

According to the Public Works Office, the activity is categorized as routine sand maintenance following erosion. The project uses existing sand from the Kuta Beach area, with one bulldozer and one excavator deployed to carry out the work.

Rama Putra said the maintenance is intended to ensure Kuta Beach remains safe and comfortable for visitors. “In line with the leadership’s commitment, we hope this maintenance will provide a sense of safety and comfort for both international and domestic tourists,” he added.

Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa emphasized that Kuta Beach remains a priority area for the Badung administration due to its strong global tourism appeal. He said the measures are aimed at maintaining beach width, preventing further erosion, and sustaining the area’s tourism capacity.

“When we talk about Kuta, one of its most iconic attractions is surfing. Its wave conditions, ranked among the world’s top five, have made Kuta internationally renowned. I want to restore Kuta’s prominence, preserve its character, ensure visitor comfort, and at the same time make sure the economic benefits are felt by the local community,” the regent said.

The Badung Regency Government stated it will continue monitoring coastal conditions and carry out further maintenance as needed to support long-term, sustainable tourism at Kuta Beach.
