DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali Police are intensifying efforts to determine whether the discovery of dismembered human body parts in Ketewel, Gianyar, is connected to the alleged kidnapping of a Ukrainian national identified by the initials IK in Jimbaran, South Kuta.
In the latest development, investigators have received a DNA sample from the mother of the kidnapping victim for comparison purposes.
“We have received the DNA sample from the mother of the kidnapping victim (IK),” said Head of Public Relations of Bali Police, Commissioner Ariasandy, on Tuesday (March 3, 2026).
Police also confirmed that tissue samples from the body parts found at the Wos River estuary in Ketewel will be sent to the National Police Forensic Laboratory in Jakarta for further DNA examination.
“The tissue samples from the recovered body parts will be sent today to the Forensic Laboratory in Jakarta for DNA testing,” he explained.
According to Ariasandy, the move is part of a scientific identification process to establish the identity of the dismembered remains. The DNA results will later be compared with the victim’s family samples.
Earlier laboratory analysis had already confirmed that the mother’s DNA matched blood traces found at a villa in Tabanan and inside a rented Toyota Avanza believed to have been used to transport the victim.
“Yes, the DNA sample from the victim’s mother matches the blood traces we found at a villa in Tabanan,” Ariasandy said.
The match has strengthened police suspicion that the villa is directly linked to the ongoing investigation. The property had previously been suspected as the location where the victim recorded a video that later circulated on social media.
“That villa is the location we suspect was used when the victim released the viral video,” he added.
Authorities emphasized that final conclusions will depend on the results of the forensic DNA comparison. The investigation remains ongoing as police seek to clarify whether the two incidents, the alleged kidnapping and the discovery of body parts are connected.
