BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali Police have identified two Brazilian nationals as the main suspects in the fatal stabbing of a Dutch man in Kerobokan, marking a major development just four days after the incident.

The suspects, identified as Darlan Bruno Lima San Ana (36) and Kalyl Hyorran (29), had reportedly been in Bali since February 18, 2026. Authorities confirmed both individuals are being investigated for premeditated murder.

Director of General Criminal Investigation at Bali Police, Kombes Pol Gede Adhi Mulyawarman, stated that the suspects are facing the most serious charges under Indonesian law.

“Investigators have charged both suspects under Article 459 of the Criminal Code on premeditated murder,” he said.

“The penalties include the death sentence, life imprisonment, or a maximum of 20 years in prison,” he added.

Additional charges include Article 458 Paragraph (1) on murder, carrying a maximum sentence of 15 years, and Article 468 Paragraph (2) on assault resulting in death, with a maximum sentence of 10 years.

Police reconstructed the incident based on crime scene analysis and statements from nine witnesses, revealing the sequence of events leading to the victim’s death.

The incident occurred on Monday (March 23, 2026) at around 22:00 WITA. The victim, Rene Pouw, was walking with his partner after leaving Villa Amira on Jalan Raya Semer, accompanied by their dogs.

According to investigators, the couple noticed two unfamiliar individuals entering the narrow access road on a motorcycle.

“A few meters after leaving the villa alley, the victim and a witness saw two individuals on a motorcycle entering the area,” Gede Adhi explained.

Sensing potential danger, the victim instructed his partner to return to the villa and lock the door. Moments later, the partner witnessed the suspects carrying out a violent attack.

“The victim was attacked with a sharp weapon, causing severe open wounds to the neck, left cheek, left hand, and back. The victim later died,” he said.

The witness also reported hearing the victim shout “HELP” shortly before collapsing.

Police have secured multiple pieces of evidence to support the investigation, including a 30-centimeter blade believed to have been used in the attack. Other items collected from the scene include footwear, flashlights, and personal belongings of the victim.

Authorities also seized two motorcycles believed to have been used by the suspects. A black Honda Vario was allegedly used for initial surveillance, while a blue Honda Vario was used for further monitoring and during the execution of the attack.

This information was supported by testimony from another witness, a ride-hailing driver who reportedly saw the suspects fleeing the scene at high speed.

Investigators are continuing to analyze CCTV footage from nearby locations, including a homestay, as well as GPS data from the motorcycles and forensic evidence such as blood traces found on the vehicles.

While the method of the attack has been identified as a sharp weapon assault, the motive behind the killing remains under investigation.

Police have urged the public to report any criminal activity, including cases involving foreign nationals.

“We will take firm action and uncover all forms of crime,” Gede Adhi said.

The case remains under active investigation as authorities proceed with further legal steps against the suspects.
