DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali has been named the world’s top travel destination for 2026 by TripAdvisor, marking the first time the Indonesian island has claimed the number one position in The Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Destination List.
The ranking places Bali at the top of a list of 25 global destinations, based on millions of traveler reviews and ratings submitted throughout 2025. The annual list reflects destinations that consistently receive outstanding feedback from international visitors.
In its official description, TripAdvisor highlighted Bali’s diverse appeal, stating that “Bali is like a living postcard. Sunbathe on soft white sands, dive beneath the ocean to explore colorful coral reefs, or discover World War II shipwrecks beneath the surface.” The announcement was released on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Bali’s top ranking continues a long track record of international recognition. The island has frequently appeared among the world’s best destinations across various global travel awards. In 2025, Bali was named Best Island by Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards and also received recognition as one of the world’s most romantic destinations at the World Travel Awards.
Known for its combination of natural landscapes, cultural traditions, and hospitality, Bali remains a key tourism hub in Southeast Asia. Beyond beaches and marine tourism, visitors are drawn to its temples, local ceremonies, cuisine, and creative communities, which together offer experiences that go beyond sightseeing.
Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, welcomed the recognition, calling it a reflection of Bali’s enduring global appeal. “Bali’s selection as the world’s best travel destination by TripAdvisor shows that the island remains a strong magnet for global tourism,” she said in an official statement on Friday.
She added that while Bali has consistently placed within TripAdvisor’s top ten destinations, 2026 marks the first time it has secured the top position. “Going forward, we aim to ensure Bali continues to grow as a high-quality destination that benefits local communities, protects the environment, and inspires the world,” she said.
