BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A billboard worker was killed after being electrocuted while conducting a site survey along Sunset Road in Legian, Kuta, on Tuesday afternoon, 16 December 2025.
The victim, Husein Agustinur (40), a resident of Banjarnegara, Central Java, was surveying a billboard installation in front of Hillsong Church at around 5:30 p.m. local time (WITA) when the incident occurred.
According to Denpasar Police Public Relations Chief Kompol I Ketut Sukadi, Husein arrived at the location with a colleague and had reported to local security personnel before beginning the survey at approximately 5:15 p.m.
After coordinating with a contractor, Husein was permitted to climb the billboard structure to measure its dimensions. However, a loud explosion-like sound was heard as he attempted to descend and stepped onto the third rung of the ladder from the top.
“The victim is suspected to have been electrocuted before falling,” Sukadi said on Wednesday, 17 December 2025.
Husein was thrown backward and fell onto the roof of a nearby security post. His colleague immediately attempted to provide assistance and called for help.
Firefighters, officers from Kuta Police, and the Denpasar Police Identification Unit arrived at the scene at around 6:30 p.m. to secure the area, conduct a crime scene examination, and carry out the evacuation.
Authorities found the victim lying face down on the roof of the security post. Examinations revealed burn injuries to his right hand consistent with electrocution, bleeding from the right ear and mouth, and a fracture to the chin. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body was evacuated at around 7:00 p.m. by the Badung Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and transported to RSUP Prof. Ngoerah Hospital in Denpasar.
Police said an investigation is ongoing, including efforts to determine the source of the electrical current connected to the billboard structure involved in the incident.
