DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning for potential extreme weather conditions across Bali from February 11 to 17, 2026, as the island enters the peak of the rainy season.
BMKG reported that most areas of Bali may experience moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and strong winds over the next seven days. The agency stated that the ongoing influence of the Asian monsoon, combined with wind convergence patterns and high atmospheric moisture up to the 200 mb level, is contributing to increased convective activity and raising the risk of extreme weather.
Based on the latest observations from Meteorology Station I Gusti Ngurah Rai and Pos Kahang-Kahang, 24-hour rainfall totals in southern and eastern Bali reached 69.6 mm and 73.2 mm respectively, both categorized as heavy rain.
The agency warned that moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms could affect Badung, Denpasar, Tabanan, Bangli, Gianyar, Karangasem, Jembrana, Buleleng, and Klungkung. Strong winds are also expected in many of these areas.
In coastal and marine areas, BMKG indicated that wave heights may reach between 1.25 and 2.5 meters in the southern Bali waters, the southern Bali Strait, the Badung Strait, and the southern Lombok Strait. Fishermen, marine transport operators, and sea tourism businesses are advised to remain alert to changing conditions.
BMKG cautioned that the extreme weather potential may trigger hydrometeorological hazards such as flooding, flash floods, landslides in mountainous or steep terrain, fallen trees due to strong winds, localized whirlwinds, and hail, depending on each area’s vulnerability.
The agency urged the public, relevant institutions, fishermen, and marine tourism operators to remain vigilant against sudden weather changes and to monitor official updates through BMKG’s official channels.
