GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Police are continuing their investigation after several human body parts, suspected to be from a mutilation case, were discovered in Ketewel, Gianyar Regency.

Authorities confirmed that identification efforts are still underway, with forensic examinations being conducted by the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team of Bali Police’s Medical and Health Division, along with the regional forensic laboratory.

Denpasar Police Public Relations Officer Iptu Gede Adi Saputra Jaya said on Friday (Feb 27) that his office has not issued detailed statements, as they are awaiting official identification results.

“We are not in a position to draw conclusions yet because the DVI team and forensic laboratory are still carrying out examinations,” he said.

When asked whether the remains could be linked to a reported foreign national kidnapping case in South Kuta, he declined to speculate. “We cannot associate the cases at this stage. The identification process is still ongoing,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bali Police spokesperson Kombes Pol Ariasandi stated that the first discovery involved a severed head found by a local resident. Subsequent searches led to the discovery of additional body parts, including a right foot and other sections of the torso.

“So far, the parts recovered include the head, portions of the arms, the right and left chest, back, thigh, and the sole of a foot. All remains have been evacuated and will undergo identification by our DVI team,” Ariasandi said.

He confirmed that the victim’s identity and nationality remain unknown. Although preliminary visual impressions from photographs suggested the victim could be a foreign national, Ariasandi emphasized that confirmation requires a formal forensic identification process.

The remains were discovered on Thursday morning (Feb 26) at the mouth of the Wos River in Banjar Keden, Ketewel Village, Sukawati District.

According to reports, a resident was inspecting a jogging track along the beach at around 10:00 WITA when he noticed a suspicious object. Upon closer inspection, it was identified as a severed human head. The finding was immediately reported to Sukawati Police.

Police have not released further details as the investigation and forensic identification continue.
