DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali’s Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD Bali) has urged residents to prepare emergency go-bags and review evacuation plans as Tropical Cyclone Seed 93S is expected to affect the island between 11 and 18 December 2025, bringing the risk of extreme weather and flooding.
BPBD Bali Head I Gede Agung Teja Bhusana Yadnya said personal preparedness is critical during periods of heightened weather risk, particularly for communities living in flood-prone areas.
“Prepare emergency steps and plans. If you have valuables or important documents, place them in one bag, an emergency go-bag, so that if evacuation is needed, it can be done quickly,” he said in Denpasar on Tuesday, 16 December 2025.
According to BPBD, having a ready-to-carry bag can help residents respond faster during sudden evacuations and reduce the risk of belongings being damaged by floodwaters.
Extreme Weather Linked to Cyclone Seed 93S
BPBD Bali reported that extreme weather conditions over the past five days, influenced by Cyclone Seed 93S, have already caused flooding in five regencies across Bali. The system has brought very heavy rainfall and increased high waves in surrounding waters, raising concerns over further impacts in the coming days.
“The first step is to stay calm. After that, seek information and follow weather updates. Now, villages can track rainfall timing through BMKG weather applications,” Yadnya added.
Know Safe Areas and Follow Official Updates
BPBD Bali advised residents to identify safe locations near their homes, particularly areas away from rivers and drainage channels, to reduce the risk during flooding or related hazards. The agency also stressed the importance of staying updated through official BPBD and BMKG channels.
“BPBD operates without holidays. We continue coordinating resources, including pumping equipment, which has been used extensively in recent days. However, for the long term, stronger infrastructure readiness is still needed,” Yadnya said.
Environmental Capacity Also a Factor
While Cyclone Seed 93S differs from the Rossby wave system that triggered major flooding in September 2025, BPBD warned that its timing during the rainy season still poses serious risks, even if the system moves away from Indonesia.
Yadnya also noted that disaster impacts are not caused by weather alone. Urban planning, drainage conditions, and environmental carrying capacity play a significant role.
“Drainage systems, both old and new need improvement. We are seeing blockages not only from sediment but also from waste such as cables and other debris,” he said.
BPBD Bali encouraged the public to remain vigilant, maintain drainage around their properties, and prepare emergency supplies as Bali continues to face unstable weather conditions.
