BULELENG, DEWATA.NEWS – Celukan Bawang Port in North Bali has strengthened its passenger services ahead of the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2025/2026 holiday period, with port operator Pelindo confirming full operational readiness to support smooth maritime travel.

The General Manager of Pelindo Celukan Bawang Branch, Mochammad Imron, said the official Nataru service post will operate from December 18, 2025, to January 5, 2026. Despite the seasonal holiday period, Pelindo does not expect a significant surge in passenger traffic this year.

“Based on our projections, passenger ship traffic during Nataru is expected to remain relatively normal. Most passengers are Madura-origin workers employed in Bali who are returning home,” Imron explained.

To ensure optimal service, Pelindo has prioritized improvements at the passenger shelter at Pier 3, which serves as the main hub for domestic passenger arrivals and departures.

The waiting area has been reorganized to improve order, safety, and comfort, while accessibility for all passengers has also been enhanced.

Supporting facilities have also undergone upgrades, including paving and resurfacing of the shelter area, repairs to freshwater supply pipelines for vessel operations, and the provision of internet access for passengers during waiting times.

Safety infrastructure such as fire extinguishers (APAR) and clearly marked evacuation routes has been reinforced.

Passenger embarkation and disembarkation flows have been more tightly regulated to prevent congestion, supported by service and security personnel stationed at key points. Clear separation between passenger movement and logistics activities has also been implemented to maintain operational efficiency.

According to Imron, Pier 3 currently serves the Sea Toll Route R13, connecting Celukan Bawang–Sapeken–Kangean–Kalianget (Sumenep)–Labuhan Lombok–Bima–Badas. The route is operated by KM Sabuk Nusantara 51 and KM Sabuk Nusantara 74, which play a vital role in connecting island communities.

From an operational standpoint, Pelindo has ensured the readiness of tugboats, pilot services, and port equipment, while cargo loading and unloading activities will continue under strict traffic management to avoid interference with passenger services.

“With strengthened services and close coordination among all units and stakeholders, we are confident that Nataru operations at Celukan Bawang Port will run smoothly, safely, and comfortably for the public,” Imron said.
