DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – A crew member of the fishing vessel KM Permata 168 was found dead after slipping and falling into the sea at the West Pier of Benoa Harbor in the early hours of Tuesday, 16 December 2025.
The incident occurred at around 3:25 a.m. WITA, with authorities receiving the initial report at 6:20 a.m. WITA from Benoa Port Police (KP3), according to I Nyoman Sidakarya, Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue (SAR) Office.
The victim was identified as Denis Muldini, whose identification card lists his address as Bojonglarang Village, Cijati District, Cianjur Regency.
Following the report, SAR officers coordinated with KP3 Benoa Police and Bali Marine and Water Police (Polairud). Five SAR personnel from Denpasar were immediately dispatched to Benoa Harbor.
Search operations began at 7:50 a.m. WITA, with two SAR divers deployed into the water.
“At around 8:10 a.m. WITA, the victim was found at a depth of approximately three meters,” said Ari Yudanta, the field coordinator for the operation.
The body was placed in a body bag and recovered onto the pier. At approximately 10:00 a.m. WITA, the victim was transported by ambulance from the Bali Provincial Health Office to RSUP Prof. Ngoerah Hospital for further handling.
The joint SAR operation involved personnel from the Denpasar SAR Office, KP3 Benoa Police, Bali Regional Police Marine Unit, Denpasar Naval Base (Lanal Denpasar), the victim’s colleagues, and local community members.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances that led to the fall. An investigation is ongoing.
