KLUNGKUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Crystal Bay in Sakti Village, Nusa Penida, has officially reopened after a flash flood brought mud and debris onto the beach earlier this week. The popular coastal destination, known for its white sand and clear waters, has now been cleaned and is welcoming visitors once again.

According to Acting Head of Klungkung Tourism Office, I Gusti Agung Putra Mahajaya, tourists have already begun returning.

“After the flood incident, Crystal Bay has reopened. Since yesterday, visitors have started to arrive,” he said on Thursday, 11 December.

The cleanup took two days and involved multiple teams. On Monday night, 8 December, a sudden flood carried mud, branches, and other debris from the hills down to the shoreline, even flooding nearby kiosks and halting tourism activities.

“A water channel burst, causing the overflow to reach the beach,” Mahajaya explained.

The Klungkung Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has recorded the damage and is awaiting follow-up action from relevant authorities to repair the broken water channel and prevent similar incidents from happening again.

“Mitigation efforts have been carried out by the related agencies. Parking arrangements at Crystal Bay are also currently being organized,” he added.

With the shoreline restored and infrastructure improvements underway, Crystal Bay is once again accessible to both domestic and international visitors.
