BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A fire broke out at a motorbike rental business on Jalan Drupadi, Seminyak, Kuta, in the early hours of Monday (9/2), destroying the rental outlet and seven motorcycles. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by police.
The blaze occurred in front of Harris Hotel Seminyak at around 00:11 WITA. According to Denpasar Police spokesperson Iptu Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, initial information was obtained from witnesses at the scene.
One witness, hotel security guard I Putu Yogi Suwidiantara (22), said he was on duty at the hotel’s front area when he noticed a small fire that suddenly grew larger. He immediately called another security guard, Ahmad Nurip Hidayah (26), who was stationed in the hotel’s basement.
Both security guards rushed to the location with fire extinguishers. Upon arrival, they saw a motorbike rental employee, Muhammad Sobri (18), attempting to put out the fire using water. The two guards then assisted by deploying eight portable fire extinguishers in an effort to control the flames.
A local resident contacted the Seminyak community security unit and reported the incident to the Badung Fire and Rescue Department and Kuta Police, Iptu Adi Saputra said.
Firefighters arrived with three fire engines, and the fire was fully extinguished at around 00:58 WITA. Sobri, who was on duty at the rental at the time, could not be questioned immediately as he was still in shock following the incident.
Police confirmed that there were no casualties in the fire. However, the total material losses have not yet been calculated. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the blaze.
