BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A fire broke out at Casa Padel Bali, a popular sports facility located on Jalan Uluwatu I, Jimbaran, South Kuta, on Friday afternoon (30 January). Thick smoke was seen rising from the site after a security post caught fire, prompting an emergency response.
According to Denpasar Police Public Relations officer Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, the incident occurred at around 13:30 WITA. Initial findings suggest the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. The security post’s roof, which was made of dried grass material, contributed to the rapid spread of the flames.
A security guard identified as I Wayan Ardika, 52, was on duty at the time. He reported smelling smoke while sitting outside the post before noticing that the roof was already on fire.
“The witness immediately took a hose and sprayed water on the padel lobby roof, which is also made of dried grass, to prevent the fire from spreading,” Adi Saputra Jaya said.
Ardika, assisted by other staff members, attempted to control the fire using water hoses and fire extinguishers while waiting for firefighters to arrive. Two fire engines from the Badung Fire Department later reached the location and continued the extinguishing efforts.
The fire was fully brought under control at around 15:00 WITA.
No injuries were reported in the incident. However, the fire caused damage to the security post and several facilities, including two water tanks, tables, chairs, a water dispenser, a fan, and a CCTV unit. The total financial loss has not yet been determined and is still being assessed by the facility’s management.
