DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Thousands of foreign nationals remain unable to leave Bali as international flight routes continue to be affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East involving Iran and a United States–Israel coalition.
According to data from Bali Immigration, as of March 30, 2026, a total of 12,278 foreign nationals are still stranded on the island due to disrupted international travel routes linked to the escalating situation.
The number is expected to gradually decrease as some travelers begin rerouting their journeys through alternative countries. However, a significant number of individuals remain unable to return home under current conditions.
Authorities also reported that 682 foreign nationals have been granted Emergency Stay Permits (Izin Tinggal Keadaan Terpaksa / ITKT), allowing them to legally remain in Indonesia while travel restrictions persist.
Head of the Bali Regional Immigration Office, Felucia Sengky Ratna, confirmed that special immigration policies are still being implemented to support affected individuals.
“As long as this policy has not been revoked by the central government, Bali Immigration will continue providing services for foreign nationals affected by the conflict,” she said during a media briefing in Denpasar on Tuesday (March 31, 2026).
As part of the response, immigration authorities have waived overstay fines for those whose permits expired due to the travel disruption. So far, 242 foreign nationals have received full penalty exemptions, with zero charges applied.
To improve access to services, Bali Immigration has also established help desks in two locations in the Nusa Dua area, aimed at assisting foreign nationals with information and administrative processes during the situation.
Felucia added that applications for emergency stay permits can be processed within the same day, provided all required documents are complete and submitted before 12:00 WITA.
“We ensure that ITKT applications can be completed on the same day if all requirements are properly fulfilled. This reflects our commitment to providing optimal service,” she stated.
Authorities expressed hope that the geopolitical situation will stabilize soon, allowing international travel to return to normal.
“We hope conditions improve soon so that foreign nationals can safely return to their home countries,” she concluded.
