DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Foreign tourist arrivals to Bali recorded a significant increase in December 2025, with a total of 572,668 international visitors entering the island directly. The figure marked a 18.48 percent month-on-month increase compared to November 2025, reflecting strong year-end travel demand.
According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Bali Province, most foreign visitors arrived by air, totaling 558,790 arrivals, while 13,878 visitors entered through sea ports. The surge further reinforced Bali’s position as a leading international tourism destination toward the end of the year.
By nationality, Australian tourists continued to dominate arrivals with 140,987 visits in December. They were followed by visitors from India with 57,263 arrivals, China with 37,455, Singapore with 32,480, and South Korea with 25,199 arrivals. Among the top ten source countries, Singapore recorded the highest month-on-month growth, surging by 101.79 percent.
On a cumulative basis, Bali welcomed 6,948,754 foreign visitors throughout January to December 2025, representing a 9.72 percent increase compared to 2024. Australia remained the largest source market, contributing 1,628,459 visits over the full year.
Despite the strong growth in foreign arrivals, hotel performance did not fully reflect the increase. The average room occupancy rate for star-rated hotels in Bali in December 2025 stood at 60.88 percent, up 2.91 percentage points from November 2025. However, on a year-on-year basis, occupancy at star-rated hotels declined by 2.83 percentage points, with the sharpest drop recorded at one-star hotels, which fell by 9.46 percentage points.
The average length of stay at star-rated hotels in December 2025 was recorded at 2.91 nights, slightly lower than in November. Foreign guests stayed longer on average at 3.21 nights, compared to 2.48 nights for domestic guests. On an annual basis, the average length of stay increased by 0.23 points compared to December 2024.
Meanwhile, non-star hotels recorded an occupancy rate of 39.61 percent in December 2025. The figure was relatively stable month-on-month but declined by 4.54 percentage points year-on-year. The average length of stay at non-star hotels was 2.46 nights, with foreign guests again staying longer than domestic visitors.
Combined data for both star-rated and non-star hotels showed that Bali’s overall hotel occupancy rate reached 52.25 percent in December 2025. Badung Regency recorded the highest occupancy at 61.00 percent, while Jembrana Regency posted the lowest at 21.71 percent. The steepest month-on-month decline in occupancy was observed in Karangasem Regency, which fell by 3.86 percentage points.
