GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – The Gianyar Regency Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) has forcibly halted a restaurant construction project along Jalan Bypass Dharma Giri, Gianyar, citing permit violations and damage to recently repaired public road infrastructure. The enforcement action was carried out on Friday (6/2).
Head of Satpol PP and Fire Services of Gianyar Regency, I Putu Yudanegara, said the decision was taken after the project operator failed to present valid construction permits during an on-site inspection. The project was found to be in violation of Regional Regulation No. 15 of 2015 on Public Order, as well as building permit requirements.
“All required documents should be completed before construction begins. The permits provide technical guidance, including building height and structure specifications,” Yudanegara said at the site.
In addition to administrative violations, authorities highlighted physical damage caused by the construction activity. Heavy equipment, including an excavator, was operated directly on the roadway, damaging asphalt that had only recently been renovated by the local government. Soil from excavation work was also scattered across the road surface and clogged drainage channels along the sidewalk.
The debris made the road surface slippery, posing safety risks to motorists and pedestrians. To address the immediate impact, one fire truck unit was deployed to wash away soil residue from the roadway. Traffic police from Gianyar Police assisted on site to manage traffic flow during the clean-up operation.
Yudanegara stated that Satpol PP will formally summon the project owner to its office for further clarification. Construction activities will remain suspended until all required permits are presented. The owner is also required to coordinate with local authorities regarding compensation or repairs for the damaged road and sidewalk infrastructure.
