GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Gianyar Police deployed dozens of officers on Saturday night (Feb 21) in response to a reported abduction involving a foreign national in South Kuta.

The operation, known locally as “Operation 21,” focused on vehicle inspections at key border routes connecting regencies within the Sarbagita metropolitan area, Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, and Tabanan.

The intensified checks followed direct instructions from Bali Police Headquarters (Polda Bali) aimed at narrowing potential escape routes and maintaining regional security stability.

Authorities were specifically searching for Ihor Komarav, a 28-year-old Ukrainian national who was reported missing.

Head of Operations at Gianyar Police, Kompol I Nyoman Sukadana, led a readiness briefing at 9:45 p.m. local time (WITA) in front of the Water and Air Police Unit office before deploying personnel to the field.

The checkpoint was set up at the Tulikup–Sidan intersection, a strategic route linking multiple regencies. A total of 35 joint personnel were assigned to the operation.

During the operation, officers inspected 120 four-wheeled vehicles and 50 motorcycles. By the time the operation concluded at 11:00 p.m. WITA, no indications of the missing individual or any suspicious vehicles connected to the case had been found.

“This activity is both a preventive measure and a rapid response to a high-profile case in Bali. Although tonight’s operation did not yield any results related to the alleged abduction, the security situation in Gianyar remains safe and under control,” Sukadana said.

Gianyar Police stated that enhanced police activities (KRYD) and routine patrols will continue to be intensified to ensure public safety and support Bali Police in handling cases that draw significant public attention.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the reported abduction as the investigation remains ongoing.
