GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Tourist arrivals to Gianyar Regency reached 4,074,426 visitors throughout 2025, with the majority of visits concentrated at two major attractions: Monkey Forest Ubud and Tirta Empul Temple in Tampaksiring. Both destinations remained top choices for domestic and international tourists.

Head of the Gianyar Tourism Office, Wayan Gede Sedana Arta, said tourist numbers to the regency have shown a consistent upward trend over recent years. In 2022, Gianyar recorded 1,208,852 visitors, rising sharply to 4,511,163 in 2023 and 4,929,391 in 2024.

For 2025, total visits reached 4,074,426, slightly below the official target. “Our target was 4.6 million visitors. With three days remaining before the end of the year, we reached around 4.07 million, or about 89 percent of the target,” Sedana said on Monday (December 29, 2025).

Despite falling short of the target, the Gianyar administration remains optimistic heading into 2026. Sedana said the same visitor target has been set for next year, supported by significant improvements to tourism infrastructure carried out by both the Gianyar Regency Government and the Bali Provincial Government.

Key upgrades include road widening and traffic improvements along major tourism corridors such as Pengosekan Nyuh Kuning, Padang Tegal Peliatan, areas that have historically experienced heavy congestion.

“Important access routes to tourist areas were improved throughout 2025 and are now completed, so visitors can travel more comfortably while in Gianyar,” he explained.

Beyond Monkey Forest Ubud and Tirta Empul, other popular attractions include Bali Safari and Bali Zoo Park, each recording average annual visits of around 500,000 tourists.

However, Gianyar’s tourism office noted a decline in adventure tourism activities during 2025. Rafting attractions recorded lower visitor numbers, with Rafting Adventure receiving 30,865 visitors and Sobek Rafting 7,006 visitors.

Sedana emphasized that the decrease was not due to reduced interest, but rather weather-related factors. “The decline is not because demand has dropped, but due to weather conditions. Recently, Gianyar has experienced relatively extreme weather, so operators limited activities to avoid safety risks,” he said.

Authorities expect that improved infrastructure and stabilized weather conditions will help sustain Gianyar’s tourism growth in the coming year.
