BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Heavy rainfall across Bali on Thursday (8/1) caused flooding in several areas, including parts of South Kuta. In Benoa Village, standing water was reported at multiple locations, prompting local police to manage traffic and clear debris from drainage channels.
South Kuta Police Chief Kompol I Komang Agus Dharmayana W. said community police officer (Bhabinkamtibmas) for Benoa Village, Aiptu Made Nidia, was deployed to anticipate the impacts of high rainfall intensity, including water pooling, flooding, and the risk of fallen trees.
Field monitoring identified several flood-prone points in Benoa Village, including Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai Nusa Dua, the area in front of Bank BNI Nusa Dua in Mumbul, Simpang Siligita in Mumbul, in front of Hotel Santika in Peminge, Jalan Trompong in Peminge, and Jalan Gopala in Bualu. Authorities noted that such conditions are common during the rainy season when rainfall is particularly heavy.
“Bhabinkamtibmas officers assisted road users passing through flooded sections and advised drivers to remain cautious and prioritize safety. Our personnel also helped push vehicles that encountered difficulties due to standing water,” Kompol Dharmayana said.
He explained that the response reflects the police’s presence in supporting the community during extreme weather conditions.
“We have instructed all personnel, especially Bhabinkamtibmas officers, to actively monitor their areas and assist residents affected by heavy rain. Public safety is our top priority, while ensuring security conditions and traffic flow remain under control,” he added.
The former South Denpasar Police Chief also urged the public to stay alert to the risk of flooding and falling trees, and to avoid routes with deep standing water for safety reasons. Based on ongoing monitoring, water levels at several locations were still present but gradually receding as rainfall eased.
