GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Joint teams from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), and the Gianyar Transportation Agency have carried out an illegal parking enforcement operation along Jalan Banjar Tebesaya, Peliatan Village, on Sunday (December 21, 2025), as part of efforts to prevent severe traffic congestion in Ubud.

The operation was conducted to support traffic diversions following damage to Jalan Raya Ubud caused by a landslide near the west of Ambengan Intersection, which has disrupted one of the main access routes in the area.

Authorities said the crackdown aims to ensure smoother traffic flow and improve safety and comfort for both residents and tourists in one of Gianyar’s busiest tourism zones.

The enforcement was led by Major I Gede Astawa, Commander of Koramil 1616-02/Ubud, who stated that improperly parked vehicles have become a major obstacle to mobility, especially during ongoing traffic diversions.

“We urge vehicle owners to park properly. Our main focus is keeping the southern route open and moving smoothly, particularly while traffic is being redirected,” Major Astawa said during a readiness briefing at the Dalem Puri parking area.

Findings During the Operation

The joint team was divided into two groups, sweeping the road from the northern and southern ends before meeting at Balai Banjar Tebesaya. During the operation, several violations were identified and addressed on the spot.

Officers found motorcycles parked horizontally, reducing road space. Riders were shown the correct angled parking position to optimize space.

Authorities also reiterated a strict ban on car parking along the congested corridor and instructed vehicle owners to immediately relocate their cars.

In addition, several motorcyclists were caught riding against traffic flow from south to north. These riders received firm warnings and were directed back to the correct route.

The operation involved close coordination between multiple agencies, including officers from Ubud Police Criminal Investigation Unit, representatives of the Gianyar Transportation Agency, the local administrative head of Tebesaya, and 10 pecalang (traditional security officers) from the Tebesaya customary village.

Authorities said the continued enforcement is expected to help keep Banjar Tebesaya orderly, safe, and accessible, supporting smoother travel for tourists and daily mobility for local residents while traffic diversions remain in effect.
