BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Indonesian immigration authorities have imposed an entry ban on an Indian national with a history of passport forgery, while deporting another foreign national for overstaying in Bali.

Head of the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim), Teguh Mentalyadi, confirmed that the individual identified as R (24) has been placed on a prevention list to block re-entry into Indonesia following his release from prison.

“The final decision regarding the duration of the entry ban will be determined by the Directorate General of Immigration after considering all aspects of the case,” he said in Jimbaran, Badung, on Friday.

Under Indonesia’s Immigration Law No. 6 of 2011, authorities may impose entry bans of up to 10 years, or even lifetime bans for individuals deemed a serious threat to public order and security.

R was previously convicted in a passport forgery case after attempting to travel to Europe via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on September 11, 2025. He was found using a Mexican passport, despite having entered Bali earlier with a valid Indian passport under a visa-on-arrival scheme on August 31, 2025.

Immigration forensic analysis confirmed that the Mexican passport had been manipulated and was not authentic. The findings were further verified by the Indian Consulate in Bali and the Mexican Embassy in Jakarta.

“The document was accurately identified as a forged passport through forensic examination,” Teguh explained.

Following the investigation, R was sentenced to five months in prison. After completing his sentence on March 9, 2026, he was transferred to the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center before being deported to India.

In a separate case, another Indian national identified as HD was also deported after overstaying his permit by 74 days.

HD entered Indonesia in March 2020 under an investment-related stay permit (ITAS). He had previously established a restaurant in Bali, which ceased operations in 2024, leaving him without active business activity.

Authorities confirmed that his stay permit expired on December 24, 2025, leading to the overstay violation.

The cases highlight ongoing immigration enforcement efforts in Bali, particularly concerning document fraud and visa compliance among foreign nationals.
