BANGLI, DEWATA.NEWS – A reported theft involving a foreign tourist in Kintamani was swiftly resolved after police confirmed the missing phone had been accidentally dropped, not stolen.

The incident involved a 62-year-old Russian tourist, identified as Kvasha, who reported losing a Redmi 13 smartphone while visiting Montana Del Cafe in Batur Tengah Village on Wednesday morning (March 25).

According to the initial report, the tourist and her group had just finished breakfast and were preparing to leave when the phone was discovered missing. The situation initially raised concerns of theft, prompting a report to Kintamani Police.

Officers from the Kintamani Police Criminal Investigation Unit immediately responded by conducting a scene investigation, collecting witness statements, and reviewing CCTV footage from the cafe area.

“Every report is handled promptly. We verify the actual sequence of events through witness examination and CCTV analysis,” said Kintamani Police Chief Kompol Made Dwi Puja Rimbawa.

The investigation revealed that the phone had fallen when the victim stood up from her seat inside the cafe. Police confirmed there was no indication of criminal activity.

After recovering the device, officers ensured it was safely returned to the tourist, delivering it to Ubud, Gianyar, where she had continued her trip.

“Our team’s quick response was appreciated by the victim and her group,” Rimbawa added.

Police also reminded both residents and visitors to remain attentive to their belongings in public places.

“We urge everyone to double-check personal items before leaving any location to avoid similar incidents,” he said.

The case highlights the importance of quick verification in maintaining public confidence, particularly in tourist areas.
