KLUNGKUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Residents of Klungkung Regency will soon be able to access immigration services locally, as the region has been selected for the construction of a Class III Non-TPI Immigration Office, eliminating the need to travel outside the regency for document processing.

The announcement was delivered during the 76th Immigration Service Day ceremony on Monday, January 26, 2026, attended by Klungkung Deputy Regent Tjokorda Gde Surya Putra, who represented the Klungkung Regent at the national event held at the Indonesian Correctional Polytechnic campus in Tangerang, Banten.

The ceremony, themed “Immigration in Service, Advancing Indonesia,” also included the signing of memorandums of understanding, the handover of integrity zone development plans, and the inauguration of 18 immigration offices nationwide by Indonesia’s Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Adrianto.

Deputy Regent Surya Putra welcomed the decision, saying the presence of an immigration office in Klungkung will significantly improve public access to essential services, including passport issuance, residence permits for foreign nationals, and other immigration-related matters.

“Let us hope that all processes move forward smoothly and according to plan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Klungkung National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol) I Dewa Sueta Negara confirmed that the Klungkung administration has prepared a location for the new office at the former Klungkung Inspectorate building. The immigration office is projected to begin operations in 2026.

He explained that immigration supervision in Klungkung has so far been limited due to the absence of a local immigration office. This has affected oversight of foreign nationals, particularly in Nusa Penida, a popular destination for international visitors.

“The Foreigners Supervision Team already exists, but it has not been optimal because there are no immigration officers permanently based in Klungkung,” he said. “Once the immigration office is established, we will implement routine supervision programs in Nusa Penida.”

In addition, the Klungkung administration plans to establish an Integrated Foreigners Supervision Unit (UPT) in Nusa Penida, to be located at a former elementary school building in Ped Village. The unit will function as an extension of the Klungkung Immigration Office, strengthening both immigration services and monitoring across the island area.

Local authorities say the new facilities are expected to enhance service efficiency, improve coordination between agencies, and support better governance amid growing domestic and international mobility in Klungkung.
