BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Flooding along Jalan Wana Segara in Kuta has significantly disrupted tourism activity, with visitor numbers to Pantai Jerman reported to have dropped by approximately 80 percent in recent days.
The inundation has affected access to the beach area, making it difficult for tourists to enter. Adverse weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and strong winds, have further impacted the coastal area.
Pantai Jerman manager I Ketut Werka said the situation has severely affected operations.
“It has greatly affected us because access is blocked by standing water. The situation is very concerning, as in addition to heavy rainfall, it is also accompanied by strong winds,” Werka said on Friday (February 27).
According to him, strong winds have caused several trees around the beach to break, adding to debris along the shoreline. As a result, tourist visits have declined sharply compared to normal conditions.
“In the current situation, visits may have dropped by up to 80 percent,” he stated.
Under normal circumstances, Pantai Jerman receives around 500 visitors per day, with numbers reaching up to 1,500 during holiday periods. Since the flooding began, however, daily visitors have fallen to around 100 people from morning until late afternoon.
“Now at most there are around 100 visitors from morning to evening. Usually, it can reach 500 people, and during holidays up to 1,500,” Werka explained.
He added that the few tourists who continue to visit are predominantly international travelers, mostly from Australia and Japan, who come briefly to observe the beach conditions.
“There are a few tourists who may just want to see the situation. At most around 20 people, mostly from Australia and Japan,” he said.
Domestic visitors have largely avoided the area, opting to stay indoors while flooding persists.
Werka, who also serves as the head of Banjar Segara, emphasized that Jalan Wana Segara is one of the lowest points in the area and requires serious attention to prevent recurring flooding during future rainy seasons.
He called on authorities to improve drainage systems and consider raising the road level to prevent further water accumulation.
“We urge the government and related parties to pay attention to the drainage system. The road elevation should also be considered so that flooding like this does not happen again,” he added.
The situation continues to affect both local businesses and tourism activity in the Kuta coastal area.
