BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Kuta Police Sector conducted a large-scale public order and traffic operation at the Jalan Melasti Intersection on Sunday night (January 11, 2026), as part of efforts to maintain safety and comfort for visitors in the Legian tourism area.

The operation, which began at 20:00 WITA, was led directly by Kuta Police Chief Agus Riwayanto Diputra. The initiative involved not only police personnel but also a cross-sector collaboration with multiple government and community stakeholders.

Agus said the operation focused on the misuse of online motorcycle taxi attributes and unsafe riding behavior that could pose risks to public safety.

“Our main objective is to create a safe, orderly, and smooth traffic situation. We want to ensure that no one’s comfort is disturbed, especially in this tourism area that represents Bali’s image,” he said during the operation.

Officers inspected online ride-hailing drivers from various platforms as well as private motorcycle riders. While traffic tickets were issued for serious violations, the operation emphasized an educational and preventive approach. Riders received verbal warnings and were reminded of the importance of traffic discipline and responsible behavior on the road.

Official task force representatives from Gojek and Grab were present on site, assisting authorities in ensuring that partner drivers used proper attributes and followed road conduct regulations.

The operation also involved personnel from the Badung Regional House of Representatives, Legian Urban Village Office, Denpasar Metropolitan Police, Badung Satpol PP, immigration authorities, and representatives of the local traditional village.

This coordinated effort highlighted shared responsibility among law enforcement, local government, and traditional institutions in maintaining order in Legian. Until the operation concluded near midnight, conditions at the Jalan Melasti intersection were reported to be safe, orderly, and under control.

Authorities expressed hope that regular operations of this kind will help ensure that Legian remains a welcoming and visitor-friendly destination.
