DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck the Bali region on Saturday afternoon (10/1), briefly alarming residents in several areas, including East Denpasar.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake occurred at 17:34:07 WITA. The epicenter was located at coordinates 9.26 degrees south latitude and 114.78 degrees east longitude, approximately 71 kilometers southwest of South Kuta, Bali.
BMKG reported that the quake originated at a depth of 34 kilometers. The tremor was felt in parts of Denpasar, with residents describing the shaking as strong enough to prompt some people to leave their homes as a precaution.
As of this report, there have been no official reports of structural damage or casualties resulting from the earthquake. Authorities confirmed that the event does not pose a tsunami threat.
BMKG has urged the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and continue to monitor official updates from the agency.
