BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport recorded a positive increase in passenger traffic during the first 12 days of the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) travel monitoring period, indicating sustained travel demand to and from Bali.
Based on data cited from Antara, passenger movements in and out of Bali between December 15 and 26, 2025, rose by approximately two percent compared to the island’s average daily traffic during normal periods in the same year.
Head of Communication and Legal Affairs at Ngurah Rai Airport, Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, said the airport handled an average of 67,597 passengers per day during the monitoring period. This figure exceeds the January–November 2025 daily average of 66,222 passengers.
“During the 12-day Christmas and New Year transport monitoring period, which began on December 15, 2025, Ngurah Rai International Airport has served a total of 811,170 passengers,” he said in Denpasar on Saturday (December 27, 2025).
The increase was also reflected in flight activity. Over the same 12-day period, the airport recorded 5,128 aircraft movements, averaging 427 flights per day. This is higher than the 2025 annual daily average of 390 aircraft movements.
Passenger traffic peaked ahead of Christmas. On Wednesday (December 24, 2025), the airport recorded 70,746 passengers, marking a 108.8 percent increase compared to the same date in 2024.
Although traffic dipped slightly on Christmas Day, Thursday (December 25), with 64,157 passengers, it rebounded sharply on Friday (December 26).
Flight movements also surged, with 448 aircraft movements recorded in a single day, equivalent to a 109.8 percent increase compared to the same Christmas travel monitoring period last year.
Airport authorities said the data counters claims circulating on social media suggesting that Bali’s tourism sector is experiencing a downturn. Instead, official statistics show that arrivals to Bali exceeded departures during the period.
On the 12th day of the monitoring operation, total passenger numbers reached 72,269, with arrivals dominating both domestic and international segments.
“Arriving passengers outnumbered those departing, with 17,479 domestic arrivals and 24,653 international arrivals,” Gede Eka concluded.
