BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Police in North Kuta have stepped up patrols following public complaints over ongoing snatch theft incidents in the area, as well as concerns related to recent flooding.
Residents have reported that street theft, particularly bag snatching, remains a concern and could negatively impact Bali’s tourism image if not addressed effectively.
Responding to the situation, Acting Head of Public Information Subsection at Badung Police, Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, said on Saturday (February 28) that North Kuta Police have intensified routine patrols, focusing on high-risk hours and locations.
“North Kuta Police have increased routine patrol activities, especially during vulnerable hours and in areas considered prone to incidents, including residential neighborhoods, busy traffic routes, and tourist areas,” she stated.
Police have also strengthened intelligence efforts and conducted dialogic patrols to gather information and identify individuals or networks involved in street crimes.
“Law enforcement measures will be taken firmly against perpetrators of street crimes to create a deterrent effect,” Ayu added.
In addition to security concerns, residents have also raised complaints about flooding in parts of North Kuta. Police said they are working in coordination with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and local subdistrict authorities to monitor flood-prone areas.
Officers have assisted with traffic management during road inundation and provided direct support to affected residents.
Community police officers (Bhabinkamtibmas) are also actively encouraging residents to remain vigilant and maintain drainage systems to reduce flood risks.
“We will continue to collaborate with traditional village authorities and official village administrations to maintain public order. Synergy with pecalang and community leaders is essential, both in preventing criminal activity and handling disaster impacts. A local wisdom-based approach is considered effective in strengthening neighborhood security systems,” Ayu emphasized.
Police have urged residents and visitors to promptly report any criminal incidents or potential disturbances to authorities. Officials expressed optimism that strong cooperation between law enforcement, traditional villages, and the wider community will help maintain a stable and secure environment in North Kuta.
