TABANAN, DEWATA.NEWSNuanu Creative City in Tabanan, Bali, has unveiled Southeast Asia’s first Michelin-recognized virtual reality (VR) dining experience, developed in collaboration with EPIC NOW and hosted at Luna Beach Club. The immersive fine dining concept officially launched on Wednesday (7/1/2026).

Led by Michelin-recognized Japanese chef Kazushige Suzuki, the experience combines Japanese–Balinese fusion cuisine with virtual reality technology. Guests are guided through eight distinct VR worlds, each carefully designed to align with the dishes served, creating a continuous narrative that integrates visuals, atmosphere, and flavor.

The experimental dining experience takes place exclusively at Elysium, a glass-and-bamboo venue within Luna Beach Club that faces the open sea. Designed as Nuanu Creative City’s gastronomic hub, the space is intended to deliver a curated and immersive culinary setting.

Each dining session is limited to 20 guests, offering an intimate format that allows for close attention to detail across all elements, including taste, presentation, and ambience. The VR dining experience is scheduled to run every Friday and Saturday evening at Luna Beach Club.

“Nuanu was created as a space where different disciplines can intersect without losing their individual identities,” said Lev Kroll, CEO of Nuanu Creative City. “Our collaboration with EPIC NOW reflects our view of culture as a collaborative process that respects the work, the creators, and the audience.”

Globally, immersive dining concepts have been gaining traction in cities such as New York and Tokyo. In this format, VR technology is used not to replace the dining experience, but to deepen sensory engagement and enhance how food is perceived.

Guests can choose from four experience tiers, ranging from the Discovery Experience to a VIP Experience that includes curated beverage pairings and exclusive menu elements. Private group bookings are also available for celebrations and special occasions.

“This experience is built around attentiveness,” the EPIC NOW team stated. “Visuals, sound, and pacing are designed to support the dishes, not distract from the essence of dining.”

With its limited capacity and carefully structured format, the VR Michelin Dining Experience positions Bali at the forefront of experimental gastronomy in Southeast Asia, while reinforcing Nuanu Creative City’s role as a platform for cross-disciplinary exploration in art, culture, and technology.
