BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Police in South Kuta are investigating a reported case of property damage involving a foreign national after a car was allegedly vandalized during a roadside incident in Pecatu, Badung Regency.
The incident was reported by a 36-year-old Indonesian man identified as Alfred AL, originally from North Central Timor, East Nusa Tenggara, who is temporarily residing in Ungasan. According to the police report, the incident occurred in front of a Nirmala retail outlet in Pecatu on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at around 1:00 pm local time (WITA).
Alfred told authorities that he was driving his private car while accompanying a woman identified as Macarina Mendes, a foreign national from Argentina, to an ATM. During the trip, the situation escalated after the woman allegedly accused him of stealing money from her bag.
Police sources stated that the woman appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and became increasingly agitated. She reportedly ordered the driver to stop the car, exited the vehicle, and forcefully slammed the door. When Alfred attempted to calm the situation, the confrontation escalated further.
“The reporter stated that he was punched and kicked,” a police source said on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
The woman allegedly then picked up a stone and smashed both the front and rear windshields of the car, drawing the attention of nearby residents. The damage to the vehicle was estimated to be around IDR 10 million.
Feeling threatened and suffering material losses, Alfred filed an official report with Polsek Kuta Selatan for further legal handling.
The case is currently under investigation, with police collecting witness statements and reviewing the suspect’s status and involvement in the incident. Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Polsek Kuta Selatan, I Made Sena, confirmed that the report has been received.
“Yes, we have received the report and the case is currently being processed,” he said.
