BANGLI, DEWATA.NEWS – Heavy rainfall that hit the Kintamani area on Friday afternoon (9/1) caused a section of the road shoulder along the Penelokan–Kintamani main road to collapse, raising safety concerns for motorists.

The damage occurred in front of a furniture store in Banjar Bugbugan, Batur Tengah Village. To prevent further risks, officers from Kintamani Police promptly installed warning signs, including water barriers and police lines, around the affected area.

Kintamani Police Chief Kompol Made Dwi Puja Rimbawa said moderate to heavy rain began falling at around 14:00 WITA, resulting in water pooling on the roadway. By approximately 17:00 WITA, rainwater had eroded the road shoulder, causing it to give way.

The collapse formed a hole measuring around 10 meters in length, about 0.5 meters wide, and up to four meters deep.

“As a result of the damaged road shoulder, the Penelokan–Kintamani road has narrowed, which poses a potential danger to road users,” Kompol Rimbawa said.

In response, police personnel, together with local residents, installed warning markers at around 17:30 WITA to alert passing vehicles. The damaged section has disrupted traffic flow along the route, which is known to carry a steady volume of vehicles, particularly during peak hours.

Authorities have urged all road users to remain cautious when passing through the area, comply with warning signs, and reduce speed.

“We advise the public and motorists to increase vigilance, follow the warning signs that have been installed, and immediately report to the police if they encounter potential hazards on the road,” the police chief added.
