BANGLI, DEWATA.NEWS – Penglipuran Tourism Village in Bangli Regency is set to stage a Barong Landung performance along its main village street to mark the Lunar New Year celebration. The cultural performance is scheduled for Sunday (Feb 15) at approximately 10:00 WITA.
Manager of Penglipuran Tourism Village, I Wayan Sumiarsa, said Barong Landung was chosen because it symbolizes cultural acculturation and unity. In Balinese philosophy, Barong Landung represents balance, complementary differences, and openness to diversity.
“Its presence during the Lunar New Year celebration represents that differences are not barriers but strengths,” Sumiarsa said on Friday (Feb 13).
The event is designed as a cultural interaction space for local residents as well as domestic and international visitors. Organizers expect visitors to experience a unique Lunar New Year atmosphere combined with the traditional setting that characterizes Penglipuran Village.
Through the performance, village management aims to highlight that tourism is not solely about visitor numbers but also about preserving, respecting, and sharing cultural values responsibly.
“Lunar New Year in Penglipuran is a real example that cultural harmony can grow and be celebrated together,” Sumiarsa added.
Penglipuran Village, known for its preserved traditional layout and community-based tourism model, continues to position cultural events as part of its visitor experience, particularly during major celebrations.
