DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – A parody video titled “POV: Cops in Bali” created by a group of foreign tourists has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread discussion about alleged illegal fee practices involving police officers on the island.

Uploaded on 6 December, the satirical clip portrays scenes suggesting that some officers may solicit on-the-spot payments, particularly from tourists renting motorbikes.

The caption “Cash is King” reinforces the insinuation that cash often becomes an “instant solution” when visitors encounter such situations.

Although presented in a humorous format, the content openly criticizes a long-discussed issue that is believed to occur in several tourist areas. The video’s sharp commentary has drawn mixed reactions from Indonesian netizens.

Many viewers praised the creators’ boldness in highlighting a sensitive problem through comedy, arguing that the parody could serve as moral pressure for authorities to strengthen law-enforcement integrity in Bali.

Others expressed embarrassment and concern, noting that the fact foreign tourists used the issue as a joke underscores how serious the problem is, and how it could damage Indonesia’s tourism reputation.

As of now, there has been no official statement from the police regarding the viral video. However, the public hopes the attention generated will prompt stricter oversight and corrective action against misconduct that harms visitors and undermines Bali’s image as a trusted international destination.
