BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – The Badung Regency Government has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental cleanliness through its support for the “Run For Rivers 2026” event, held at Kedonganan Fish Pier on Saturday (March 28, 2026).
Initiated by Sungai Watch, the event combines a running activity with environmental cleanup efforts, aiming to promote both a healthy lifestyle and greater public awareness of river and marine conservation in Bali.
The program was officially opened by Made Agus Ariawan, Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs of the Badung Regional Secretariat, representing Badung Regent Wayan Adi Arnawa.
“This running movement not only promotes health and fitness, but also raises awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and preserving Bali’s rivers,” Ariawan said.
The initiative brings together various stakeholders, including local government, environmental communities, and the public, to address the growing challenge of waste management.
Officials highlighted that rivers in Bali play a crucial role in supporting daily life but are currently facing issues such as pollution, sedimentation, and ecosystem degradation.
Plastic waste was identified as a major concern due to its impact on both river systems and marine environments. Authorities emphasized the need for collective action, including reducing single-use plastics and improving waste management practices.
The Badung Government has implemented several measures to address environmental issues, including developing waste processing infrastructure, increasing public education, and promoting a circular economy approach.
Through events like Run For Rivers 2026, authorities aim to encourage consistent community participation in maintaining environmental cleanliness and protecting Bali’s natural resources.
