DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – A fire incident struck a villa complex in Sanur, South Denpasar, on Friday (April 3, 2026), destroying one unit and damaging another, with authorities still investigating the cause.

The fire occurred at Villa Mahagiri on Jalan Pungutan at approximately 12:30 WITA. It was first reported by local residents who noticed thick smoke coming from Villa Unit 304.

Staff and security personnel immediately checked the location and found flames already spreading inside one of the rooms. Initial efforts to contain the fire using portable extinguishers were unsuccessful as the flames rapidly intensified.

Strong winds contributed to the spread of the fire, allowing it to reach other parts of the building, including adjacent rooms and the living area. Burning debris also ignited parts of the roof of a nearby unit, Villa 302.

Firefighters from Denpasar City Fire Department arrived at the scene within around 10 minutes of receiving the report and deployed four fire trucks to control the blaze.

The fire was fully extinguished at approximately 15:25 WITA after several hours of response efforts.

Police from South Denpasar sector secured the area and assisted in managing the situation, including restricting public access to ensure safety during firefighting operations.

South Denpasar Police Chief AKP Agus Adi Apriyoga confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident.

“There were no fatalities. However, material losses are significant, with Villa 304 completely destroyed and Villa 302 partially damaged, especially on the roof,” he said.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire and coordinating with forensic teams to determine the exact origin.

The incident highlights potential fire risks in residential and tourist accommodation areas, particularly during dry and windy conditions.
