DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – A six-storey hydraulic parking facility at Pantai Bangsal, Sanur, has been completed and is currently undergoing trial operations, according to Desa Adat Sanur.
The parking structure, developed by the traditional village, has been in a testing phase since January 12, 2026. While the facility is operational, several issues are still being addressed, particularly related to the parking system and staffing.
Bendesa Adat Sanur Ida Bagus Sudiraharja said the trial has not yet run optimally due to high visitor numbers and limited manpower. “This is still a trial phase and not yet optimal. Visitor traffic is high, but staffing is not fully ready,” he said on Sunday (January 18, 2026).
He explained that recruiting parking attendants has been a challenge, as fewer young people are willing to take on the role. The village administration plans to further coordinate with the project vendor to address the labor issue.
Parking attendants are required to operate the hydraulic system, which involves moving motorcycles onto and off the automated platforms, while visitors only place their vehicles at designated points.
The facility is designed to use a ticketing system with progressive pricing. However, due to ongoing system adjustments, payments are currently handled manually. The temporary parking fee is set at IDR 2,000.
The hydraulic parking facility was built to address parking shortages at Pantai Bangsal, which has recently been redeveloped as a small and medium enterprise (UMKM) center and continues to attract large numbers of visitors.
According to Sudiraharja, the project was developed in partnership with a Jakarta-based vendor and is being positioned as a pilot project for Bali. Similar systems have previously been implemented in Manggarai, Jakarta. The cooperation agreement spans 10 years, with full construction costs covered by the vendor.
Under the revenue-sharing scheme, 30 percent of parking revenue will go to Desa Adat Sanur, while 70 percent will be allocated to the vendor. The total investment value is estimated at between IDR 6 billion and IDR 7 billion.
To support car parking needs, the village will also utilize the former Hotel Diwangkara Sanur site. The property owner has granted management rights to Desa Adat Sanur until redevelopment begins. Covering an area of approximately 61 are, the site is expected to accommodate more than 300 vehicles.
“Without adequate parking, it would be very difficult for us, especially since the UMKM area at Pantai Bangsal is busy every day,” Sudiraharja said.
