DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – PT XLSMART Telecom Sejahtera Tbk, through its brand Smartfren, has officially launched 5G services in Bali, marking a key step in expanding high-speed, stable, and reliable connectivity to support tourism, the creative economy, and small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
The launch forms part of the Smartfren 5G #BebasWorryMakinHappy campaign, aimed at accelerating digital inclusion across Indonesia. For Bali, Smartfren is targeting 100 percent 5G coverage by 2026.
Chief Marketing Officer of Smartfren XLSMART, Sukaca Purwokardjono, said the rollout reflects the company’s commitment to providing digital freedom for communities to create, innovate, and grow without limitations.
“With fast and stable 5G connectivity, MSMEs and creative economy players can optimize digital platforms for marketing, online transactions, and technology-based collaboration, strengthening competitiveness at both national and global levels,” he said.
Smartfren’s 5G network in Bali is deployed using a blanket coverage approach, ensuring even distribution across urban areas rather than limited hotspot locations. This allows users to experience continuous 5G connectivity while moving between outdoor and indoor areas.
The network is supported by more than 3,400 5G base transceiver stations (BTS) across 13 cities and regencies nationwide, including over 600 BTS in Denpasar City and Badung Regency. Smartfren also offers a range of affordable data packages, including unlimited and quota-based options, along with VoLTE calling services that can be used simultaneously with data access. Customers can also make free calls to fellow XL, AXIS, and Smartfren users under the integrated XLSMART service ecosystem.
To mark the 5G launch in Bali, Smartfren organized the SMARTFREN Fun Run 2025 at Renon Field, Denpasar, on Sunday, January 18. The event attracted more than 1,000 participants from running communities, Smartfren customers, and the general public, with support from various technology, consumer goods, and local partners.
The event featured a 5-kilometer run starting at 6:00 am WITA, alongside a local MSME bazaar, entertainment stage, and prize giveaways worth tens of millions of rupiah. Several senior executives from XLSMART and Smartfren attended the event, including David Arcelus Oses and Jeremiah Ratadhi.
Smartfren also introduced new 5G data packages offering features such as unlimited access, non-expiring data quotas, and free WhatsApp video calls, voice calls, and chat. These packages are designed to meet the needs of workers, students, MSMEs, and digital creators. The 5G network and products are compatible with more than 50 smartphone models available in Indonesia, with additional bundling offers provided for selected 5G devices.
Through the launch of its 5G services and community-based activities, XLSMART, via Smartfren, reaffirmed its commitment to continuous innovation and to supporting sustainable growth in Indonesia’s digital economy.
