DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – The South Korean Embassy has issued a security advisory for its citizens planning to visit Bali, citing a recent increase in serious crimes targeting foreign tourists in several popular destinations.
In an official statement released on April 1, 2026, titled “Security Warning on the Prevention of Serious Crimes,” the embassy urged travelers to remain vigilant while staying in Bali.
“Due to a recent rise in serious crimes targeting foreign nationals in major tourist areas such as Jimbaran, Seminyak, and Canggu, we ask our citizens visiting Bali to pay close attention to their personal safety,” the statement said.
The advisory also referenced several recent incidents to inform travelers. These included a reported kidnapping of a Ukrainian national in Jimbaran on February 15, who was later found dead, as well as a fatal assault involving a Dutch national outside a villa and a separate case of sexual harassment involving a Chinese tourist.
The warning highlights growing safety concerns in key tourism areas that are widely visited by international travelers.
Despite the advisory, official data from the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights shows that tourist arrivals from South Korea continue to increase.
Between January and February 2026, a total of 51,108 South Korean visitors were recorded arriving in Bali, placing the country among the top five sources of international tourists to the island, alongside Australia, China, and India.
The embassy’s advisory serves as a precautionary measure, emphasizing the importance of personal safety awareness for travelers visiting Bali.
