KLUNGKUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A South Korean national died while taking part in a snorkeling activity at Manta Point waters, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency, on Monday (February 2, 2026).

The victim, identified by the initials SR, 40, was snorkeling with another tourist under the supervision of a guide when the incident occurred at around 10:00 WITA. The activity was conducted using a snorkeling boat operated by a captain and guided by a local guide identified as Fajri, 40.

Nusa Penida Police Chief Kompol I Ketut Kesuma Jaya confirmed the incident on Tuesday (February 3, 2026). “Upon arriving at the first snorkeling spot at Manta Point, the victim and another tourist entered the water. About 10 minutes later, the guide, who was also in the water, noticed the victim floating motionless on the surface,” he said.

The guide immediately approached the victim and carried out an initial check, finding the victim in a weak condition. Assistance was then requested from another snorkeling boat operating nearby.

The victim was evacuated onto the nearest boat, where first aid was administered, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Shortly afterward, the snorkeling boat carrying the victim returned to the harbor.

At approximately 12:30 WITA, upon arrival at the harbor, the boat crew contacted Nusa Medika Clinic for medical assistance. However, after examination by medical personnel, the victim was declared deceased.

Kompol Kesuma Jaya said police have taken procedural steps following the incident, including questioning witnesses and coordinating with relevant agencies to handle the case.

“The exact cause of death is still under investigation,” he added.

The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns surrounding marine tourism activities in Nusa Penida, one of Bali’s most popular snorkeling and diving destinations.
