GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Local authorities in Gianyar secured a foreign national following a disturbance at a villa in Ubud early Wednesday morning (March 11), after reports that the individual was behaving uncontrollably and causing concern among nearby residents.
The incident involved a 60-year-old Spanish woman identified by the initial J, who was staying at The Samara Villa in Ubud. Villa management and local residents reported the situation after the woman allegedly began acting aggressively during the night.
According to Gianyar Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Fire and Rescue Head Putu Yudanegara, authorities received the report from traditional security officers (pecalang) from Ubud Traditional Village.
“We received a report from local pecalang regarding a foreign guest who was behaving aggressively and was not under control. In response, we deployed Team 2 consisting of seven personnel to secure the situation at the location,” Yudanegara said on Sunday (March 15).
The response team arrived at the villa around 00:30 WITA to prevent the situation from escalating.
Officials said they used a persuasive and calm approach when dealing with the woman due to concerns about her mental health condition. Authorities also indicated that she was known to have a history of mental health issues in her home country.
After the situation was brought under control, officers escorted the woman from the villa and transported her to the Bangli Mental Hospital for medical treatment and evaluation.
“After she was secured at the accommodation, our officers immediately took her to Bangli Mental Hospital so she could receive proper medical care,” Yudanegara explained.
Authorities said the evacuation process proceeded safely and without resistance that could endanger officers or nearby residents.
The woman is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital, while local authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies regarding her citizenship status and further handling of the case.
