DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Benoa Port closed out 2025 with two significant maiden calls, underscoring its growing status as a key cruise destination in the Asia-Pacific region. The first visit took place on 24 November 2025 with the arrival of Discovery Princess, followed by the Genting Dream on Tuesday, 2 December.
The Discovery Princess, a Bermuda-flagged vessel measuring 330 meters with a gross tonnage of 145,281 GT, arrived from Vietnam carrying 3,538 passengers and 1,350 crew. The ship stayed briefly before departing for Darwin the following day at 18.00 WITA. During the stop, passengers joined various shore excursions across Bali, contributing to increased tourist activity on the island.
A second milestone occurred with the arrival of the Genting Dream, a 330-meter cruise ship registered in Nassau and weighing 150,695 GT. It reached Benoa Port on 2 December at 17.00 WITA with 4,115 passengers and 1,796 crew as part of its voyage from Singapore. The ship continued toward Celukan Bawang and departed at 02.00 WITA on 3 December.
Agung Mataram, General Manager of Benoa Port, said the back-to-back maiden calls reflect Pelindo’s readiness to serve the global cruise market.
“The arrivals of the Discovery Princess and Genting Dream provide a strong boost for Bali’s tourism. We are committed to maintaining excellent service standards so visitors enjoy the best possible experience,” he said on Tuesday night.
As cruise traffic continues to grow, these maiden calls are expected to positively impact Bali’s regional economy and further position Benoa Port as an international gateway for tourism.
By 25 November 2025, Benoa Port had already handled 109,333 cruise passengers across 54 ship calls. With the Genting Dream visit, the total rose to 55 calls. During the first week of December alone, five cruise ships are scheduled to arrive, bringing an estimated 10,223 passengers and 4,364 crew members.
This marks a significant increase compared to the same period last year, signaling renewed confidence from global cruise operators and the strengthening appeal of Bali as a premier travel destination.
