BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Indonesian immigration authorities have detained a United States national suspected of involvement in a murder case shortly after his arrival at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Saturday afternoon (January 17, 2026).
The suspect, identified as Anthony Jamar Prioleau, was born in New Jersey on January 17, 2006, and is 20 years old. He was detained at the international arrivals terminal at around 15:30 WITA after landing in Bali on an EVA Air flight from Taipei to Denpasar.
Sources at the local immigration office said the arrest was carried out by officers from Ngurah Rai Immigration Office based on international intelligence information indicating that the individual had recently fled the United States following a murder case reported several days earlier.
Following the alert, airport immigration officers intensified surveillance and identified a passenger matching the provided profile. Upon interception, the suspect reportedly attempted to flee and resisted officers, running toward the airport drop-off zone before being restrained.
“After receiving the information, supervision was immediately tightened,” a source said on Saturday evening. “The foreign national attempted to escape but was quickly secured and taken to the immigration examination room.”
The incident drew attention from airport security personnel, and the suspect was eventually brought under control without further escalation. He is currently being questioned by a joint team from immigration authorities and Ngurah Rai Airport Police.
After initial administrative procedures, including visa-related checks, the suspect was transferred to the Immigration Supervision and Enforcement Office (Wasdakim) in Jimbaran for further handling.
Authorities confirmed that the individual remains under strict supervision while coordination continues with relevant law enforcement agencies from his country of origin. Further legal steps will depend on the outcome of this coordination.
The arrest follows a recent high-profile case in which Indonesian police detained Zuleam Costinel Cosmin, a Romanian national wanted for a murder case in his home country, who was arrested in Kerobokan, North Kuta, on Thursday (January 15, 2026).
