BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Police will impose heightened monitoring on all vehicles entering and exiting I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport during the Christmas and New Year holiday period. The measure is part of Operasi Lilin Agung, which will run from 20 December 2025 to 2 January 2026.
Airport Police Chief Kombes I Komang Budiartha stated that officers will maintain continuous surveillance throughout the festive period. “We will patrol the airport area 24 hours a day, especially in the parking zones,” he said during a briefing on Monday, 8 December 2025.
A total of 262 joint personnel will be deployed for security operations around the airport. The patrol teams will include members of the Indonesian Air Force and aviation security staff. According to Budiartha, CCTV coverage at the airport has improved significantly, but certain blind spots remain.
“CCTV has been installed in many locations, but some corners are still unreachable. That is why we will focus patrols in parking areas not covered by CCTV, as these zones are where criminal activity most often occurs,” he explained.
Police have also prepared a traffic management scheme to prevent congestion on key access roads leading to the airport during the peak holiday period. The plan will prioritize easing vehicle queues in the passenger drop-off area. “We will manage the flow of vehicles coming from the drop zone to reduce congestion,” Budiartha added.
