BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A 35-year-old French national, identified as Q.A.A.S, was detained in Canggu, North Kuta, for allegedly distributing cocaine and liquid cannabis across Badung Regency. The case developed after police inspected his accommodation at The Jineng Bali Villa in Cemagi, Mengwi.

Badung Police Chief AKBP M. Arif Batu Bara stated that officers found evidence indicating potential production and distribution activity. “After securing the suspect, we conducted a further search at his villa in Cemagi. Inside his room, we found equipment suspected to be used for producing THC liquid,” he said during a press briefing on Monday, 1 December 2025.

Police recovered three boxes containing 147 empty vape pods, two bundles of plastic clips, and one syringe believed to be used for filling liquid cannabis into pods. Officers also seized five mobile phones, three laptops, and a samurai. A K9 team conducted additional sweeps around the villa, but “no narcotics or explosives were found,” Arif added.

According to initial questioning, the suspect claimed he obtained the narcotics from a woman believed to be from Australia. “The suspect said he received all the substances from an unknown woman around Canggu about ten months ago, before she left the country,” Arif explained.

While the suspect told investigators he only used cannabis, police found cocaine and THC in quantities indicating possible distribution rather than personal consumption. His urine test returned positive for THC. Authorities are still investigating the origins of the substances and whether the suspect was involved in manufacturing.

Police estimated the street value of the seized drugs at several tens of millions of rupiah. Officers confiscated four vape pods containing liquid cannabis (1.54 grams), a bottle of liquid cannabis (4.23 grams), a package of cocaine (4.97 grams), and 1.93 grams of dried cannabis during the arrest at Jalan Raya Batu Bolong.

The suspect is currently charged under Articles 111(1), 112(1), or 114(1) of Indonesia’s Narcotics Law No. 35/2009, carrying a minimum penalty of four years and up to twelve years in prison, along with fines ranging from IDR 800 million to IDR 8 billion.

The arrest drew attention after a video posted by @PolresBadung.go.id went viral. The footage shows the foreigner resisting officers during a traffic stop in Canggu, even striking one of them before being subdued. Officers from Badung Police and North Kuta Police, some dressed as civilians and online motorcycle taxi riders, carried out the operation to disguise their identities.

The French citizen was apprehended on Friday, 29 November 2025, around 12:30 WITA, and was identified as a suspected drug dealer after attempting to flee from officers. Police reported he was carrying cocaine and liquid THC at the time of his arrest.
