DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali authorities have arrested a Turkish national at Ngurah Rai International Airport after discovering more than one kilogram of cocaine during an arrival inspection.
The suspect, identified by the initials HS, 26, was detained on Tuesday (3/2/2026) at around 17:00 WITA at the international arrivals terminal. He had just arrived in Bali from Dubai on Emirates flight EK368 when customs officers conducted an X-ray screening of his luggage.
During the inspection, officers found a clear plastic package containing a white powdery substance. Customs officials immediately coordinated with the Bali Police Narcotics Directorate, which dispatched a team to the scene for further examination.
Laboratory and field checks confirmed the substance to be cocaine with a net weight of 1,295.20 grams. The suspect was taken into custody and transferred for further investigation.
Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya said the suspect admitted he was asked to bring the package to Bali by another individual identified only by the initial M.
“The suspect stated that he was carrying the item at the request of someone else. The case is still being developed,” Daniel said during a press conference at Bali Police Headquarters in Denpasar on Saturday (7/2/2026).
Authorities are continuing the investigation to trace the wider network linked to the attempted drug smuggling. The case is being handled by the Bali Police Narcotics Directorate in coordination with customs officials at the airport.
