BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Immigration officers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport intercepted a UK national listed on an Interpol Red Notice shortly after his arrival in Bali, preventing his entry into Indonesia.
The suspect, identified by initials SL (45), was detained at the international arrivals terminal after landing on a flight from Singapore on Saturday (March 28).
Head of Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, confirmed that the arrest was made after the immigration system flagged the individual as a Red Notice subject.
“Bali will never be a hiding place for fugitives,” Kurniawan stated.
A Red Notice is an international alert issued by Interpol requesting law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and detain individuals for legal action.
Based on intelligence coordination, SL is suspected of leading an international criminal organization. He is allegedly involved in operating shell companies and money laundering activities.
“Our system is well integrated, and our officers are experienced in identifying and securing individuals listed by Interpol,” Kurniawan added.
Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, praised the operation and emphasized the importance of maintaining strict oversight at entry points.
“This success demonstrates that Bali’s immigration control system is effective, integrated, and responsive to transnational threats,” she said.
Authorities reiterated that individuals involved in serious international crimes will not be able to enter Indonesian territory.
Following the arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Ngurah Rai Airport Police for further legal processing in accordance with international fugitive handling procedures.
Immigration officials stated they will continue to coordinate closely with Interpol and other agencies to strengthen border security and prevent transnational crime.
