BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – ITDC Nusantara Utilitas (NU) planted 250 mangrove seedlings in the Pudut coastal area of Tanjung Benoa Traditional Village, South Kuta, Badung Regency, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, as part of a long-term environmental conservation initiative.
The mangrove planting program was organized in celebration of the company’s anniversary and involved cooperation with the Bali Forest Park Management Unit (UPTD Tahura), Baruna Balarama Foundation, and several environmental stakeholders.
President Director of ITDC Nusantara Utilitas, Anak Agung Istri Ratna Dewi, said the activity reflects the company’s commitment to integrating environmental sustainability into its utility and tourism-area operations.
“As an integrated utility service company, we believe environmental sustainability must go hand in hand with regional development,” Ratna Dewi said in an official statement received Tuesday evening.
According to her, the mangrove planting initiative is intended to support coastal ecosystem preservation, strengthen shoreline resilience against erosion, and create long-term environmental benefits for surrounding communities.
“This mangrove planting program is a concrete contribution from the company in supporting coastal ecosystem conservation, strengthening coastal resilience, and creating positive long-term impacts for the environment and society,” she said.
Mangroves are considered important for protecting coastal ecosystems, reducing abrasion, improving environmental quality, and providing habitats for marine life.
Ratna Dewi emphasized that the project is not limited to ceremonial planting activities. The company has committed to monitoring and maintaining the mangrove seedlings regularly for the next three years to ensure optimal growth and sustainable ecological benefits.
The company stated that the initiative is also part of its broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy as a utility operator supporting integrated tourism areas in Bali.
Officials hope the program will help restore coastal sections in Pudut affected by abrasion, improve ecosystem quality, and gradually increase natural carbon absorption in the area.
The initiative is also expected to encourage broader environmental awareness and participation among local communities and stakeholders.
“Going forward, we will continue presenting sustainability programs that provide added value for both the environment and society as part of our commitment to responsible and environmentally friendly utility services,” Ratna Dewi added.
Founder of the Baruna Balarama Foundation, I Nyoman Ridet Artikanaya, praised the company and participating organizations for supporting coastal conservation efforts in the Pudut area, which has experienced ongoing shoreline erosion.
“We hope every contribution and small step taken today can create positive and sustainable impacts in preserving coastal ecosystems for future generations,” he said.
