DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – A traditional pinisi vessel named Sharandy of The Seas sank while moored at Serangan Harbor, South Denpasar, on Saturday (December 27, 2025). All crew members and workers on board were safely evacuated, with no casualties reported.
The incident occurred at around 10:30 WITA while the vessel was anchored at the mooring area of Serangan Harbor. At the time, crew members were resting at the stern when weather conditions abruptly deteriorated, bringing strong winds and heavy rain.
According to Bali Police spokesperson Ariasandy, the sudden change in weather caused the vessel to tilt. “Due to the severe weather, the vessel began to lean to the left. The crew immediately instructed all workers to leave the boat,” he said on Saturday.
Moments later, the list worsened and the pinisi vessel sank. A total of 13 people, consisting of crew and workers, evacuated using nearby lifeboats and made it safely to shore.
“All crew members and workers were successfully evacuated. There were no fatalities in this incident,” Ariasandy confirmed.
Police officers responded shortly after receiving the report, securing the area and collecting statements from witnesses. An official incident report has been filed.
The vessel remains submerged in the waters off Serangan, at coordinates 8°43’13” South Latitude and 115°14’27” East Longitude. Authorities are currently coordinating with the Serangan Harbormaster to plan the vessel’s recovery.
Serangan Harbor is located in southern Denpasar, a coastal area frequently used by traditional and tourism-related vessels. Officials have not reported any immediate impact on harbor operations following the incident.
